Dryer Vent Cleaning
Lint is fuel. A clogged vent is a documented cause of house fires.
It's the same problem as a chimney: a duct that's supposed to move hot air out of your house, slowly filling with something flammable. We're already set up for exactly this work, so if we're at the house anyway it's an efficient thing to knock out on the same visit.
Signs you'd actually notice
- Clothes taking noticeably longer to dry than they used to
- The dryer or the laundry room getting unusually hot
- A burning smell while the dryer is running
- Lint visible around the outside vent hood
- The vent flap outside not opening when the dryer runs
What happens on the visit
Clear the full run
Rotary brushing and vacuum extraction along the entire duct, not just the first arm's length behind the machine. Long runs and multiple elbows are where the blockage actually lives.
Check the termination
The outside hood gets cleared and the flap checked for free movement. A blocked hood undoes everything else.
Flag bad ducting
Flexible foil or vinyl duct, crushed runs, and screwed joints that catch lint all cause repeat clogs. We'll tell you if the duct itself is the problem.
Confirm the airflow
We verify the dryer is actually exhausting properly before we call it done.
Why it matters
NFPA data puts clothes dryers behind thousands of home fires a year, with failure to clean them the leading contributing factor in that group. Beyond the fire risk, a restricted vent makes your dryer run longer and hotter, which costs you in energy and shortens the life of an appliance you'd rather not replace.
